My editorial in the national Washington Times today about working together to defeat COVID-19, bringing more of our needed production for goods and those jobs home, and lessons learned on cutting government red tape to make progress. #lagov #lalege
TODAY IN THE NATIONAL WASHINGTON TIMES I HAVE AN EDITORIAL WHICH I WANT TO SHARE ABOUT HOW WE WILL PULL TOGETHER IN AMERICAN AND DEFEAT THIS CORONAVIRUS. During this time of fighting the COVID-19 we can learn about how to make America stronger in the future. We can bring more jobs and production home from overseas. We can continue cutting government red tape which limits innovations and slows down needed changes to fight deadly epidemics. As Louisiana's Attorney General I will keep fighting to make Louisiana safer and more prosperous and I will speak out on how to keep the U.S. the strongest nation in the world.
We are still early in our fight against COVID-19 and so far, some of the biggest positives have been partnerships with great companies, regulatory reform efforts aiding the resolve of small businesses, and our nation uniting in the fight for our lives.
Absolutely! It’s way past time for us to care for us.Wake Up America Before Its Too Late.Thank you Mr Landry🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I sure hope that new stimulus package was read thoroughly and there will be no foreign aid or any other type of unnecessary bologna tagged into it!!!! It should only reinforce the American people’s needs right now and that’s it!!!
BRING ALL MANUFACTURING back to America
Jobs-Jobs-Jobs..and how better to secure our ultimate safety ?
Thank Jeff Landry ,you are doing a great job🇺🇸
Thanks Jeff Landry!!! You are doing an amazing job!!
I don't want my stuff made in China, or Mexico, or Canada, or Viet Namor Made in Japan or South Korea, and Assembled here. I want to buy Made in America.
THE ADVOCATE NEWSPAPERS MUST STOP PUBLISHING FALSE INFORMATION TO SCARE THE PUBLIC OVER THE CORONAVIRUS. Right now I, and other elected officials, are working hard to inform the public with accurate information to fight the virus pandemic. But the Advocate newspapers seem interested in grabbing headlines with false information to create fear and drive readers to their newspapers. Several days ago Advocate newspapers published a story about a younger woman found dead in her Orleans Parish apartment with headlines and a spun up tale linking the death to the Coronavirus. The Advocate pushed it. A quick internet search shows over 88,000 stories with this woman’s name worldwide, as The Advocate spread fear and panic to rack up links in other media publications driving traffic to their sites. Now days later the same Advocate newspapers had to admit the story was false, she has tested negative for the virus. Their explanation? They raised suspicions over the test. NOW THE SAME ADVOCATE NEWSPAPERS ARE ASKING PEOPLE TO HAND OVER THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY BY DONATING TO KEEP THE NEWSPAPERS ALIVE. But the same Advocate Newspapers are now owned by a businessman and politician whose wealth is literally hundreds of millions of dollars. The papers are owned by a man who does deals in the billions of dollars and was the largest video poker distributor in Louisiana, a politician who ran for Mayor of New Orleans as a Democrat and Governor as an Independent (losing twice). Last year a Gallup poll showed only 13% of Americas trust the mass media “a great deal.” That is not surprising with the continued tactics of The Advocate newspapers. ... See MoreSee Less
I urge you to continue to listen to your local, state, and federal officials as it relates to protecting yourselves and others from this virus.
You need to name the politician that owns the Advocate or you are doing the same as the Advocate with its false story.
It's not up to politicians
It's now in the laps of world wide researchers todelevope a vaccine to counter act virus . Our responsibility is to control spread of virus until preventive vaccine is found.
People dying and yall fussing over a newspaper. If the virus not a major problem, just refuse the money from the federal government, you wouldn't want to be apart of the scam right?
Mr Landry. For the most part i find the paper communicates exactly what Gov Edwards has been indicating is happening and is going to happen.
Stories.firsthand from nurses at the hospitals line up with news from the State and Governor.
What has happened to the print media that used to be so respected in the old days? They have dropped to the level of the National Enquirer. What happened to good journalism? Has it died?
You also need to look at why the fuel prices are so high. Gas and Diesel prices dropped Monday again, but we are still paying over two dollars a gallon for Diesel.
We buy the advocate sometimes on Sunday to get the inserts. The only real use we make of the advocate is to provide a platform for hot dishes/plates on the kitchen counter.
I canceled my subscription. They are promoting panic and anarchy. That’s not how we handle a crisis in Louisiana. We come together, get tough and do what it takes.
I canceled my subscription this week. My normal routine was to pull out the sports section and throw the rest in the trash! With no sports being played, I started throwing the whole thing in the trash 🗑. Somedays, I felt sorry for my trash can! I can find better ways to spend my money ($105.83) every 3 months to stay informed.
We should also be furious about the lag time in getting results. Wouldn’t it be nice to know someone’s status within a reasonable amount of time to avoid any possibility of speculation. I’m sure you are yelling at those people too.
I grew up with the Advocate. Once upon a time it delivered real news and had respectable and trustworthy journalists. Now it is just another money grabbing rag mag making mountains out of molehills and adding their own narratives to stolen photos.
I will give you props. I know you and Governor Edwards do not see eye to eye on a lot of issues. Both of y’all were willing to put that to the side and have a joint press conference to inform the public of the current state of this crisis. Much respect for both of y’all for doing that.
I agree! All they are doing is creating fear, anxiety and panic attacks. Such things as toilet paper of all things. I know this is serious but my God, they’re not helping. Thank you for realizing it and doing something about it. 😡😡😡
I believe no articles anymore. I trust very few journalists now too. The industry has failed to just speak the truth. Their agenda means more than the truth. Sad day!
Mr. Landry thanks for the good job you're doing. Although where music radio at WTIX and WMZ in New Orleans. We will never misinform our listeners that are all across Southeast Louisiana. We're dealing with the facts and following your lead and other officials. Thx
Thank you for the courage to post the truth about this newspaper. I haven’t trusted them for years and very little before then.
Having had personal experience with some of the staff of this newspaper, whom participated in the destruction of the old Times-Picayune, I can attest to their addiction to publicizing false and sensational stories to fit their political goals. Even when confronted with factual information contrary to their published stories, they obdurately refuse to yield to the facts. They don’t care whom they hurt, as long as it hurts them.
What exacerbates the matter is so many people, with putative educations and lofty positions, gobble up their pablum as if it were manna from heaven, and then allow the stories to guide their lives and important decisions.
I applaud AG Landry for taking this public stance against a very corrupt newspaper and hope it leads people to be wiser when choosing their source for information. Remember, a free press is an honest press, and we do not have free press in New Orleans.
I let my subscription run out. They were cutting the price so much to get me to resubscribe. I passed. Tire of the liberal narrative they constantly push.
Smear campaigns and ruining the lives of innocent people to sell paper .. and people keep supporting and buying trash journalism
I agree 100% Mr. Landry. This newspaper needs to go out of business! Such a disgrace like most newspapers these days. Lies & deception is all they do!
They have been putting out fake news ever since Mr George bought the paper. He is more interested in Mali omg money and not interested in the TRUTH. That is why I cancelled my subscription and I wish others would do the same.
The Advocate and the The Advertiser are both trash rags that are so liberal and left leaning that can not be trusted.
So happy to see Jeff call them out.
I got an email asking for money. I went on Peter Kovacs, the editor, FB page and called him a POS. This is not right.
I thought by now after three and one half years of outright lies that everyone realized that the media is corrupt !
